Restored your lost gold (and possibly then some).
At what point did the gold amount turn red? After demolishing, or upon reconstruction? Which command caused it?
I suspect there's a check looking at the wrong building ID.

I tried it also. The gold amount turned red immediately upon reconstruction. I didn't lose any gold, but my vault capacity says only 1000 now.
