After a recent bout of "Dismissing" units, I ran a Ghost-Faced smack into Rigby and RabidMonkey.

The first smack gave this message, but upon further inspection, Rigby's Ghost Faced Warrior is now in the midst of Rabid's Stuff.

Second bout got my unit killed as I wanted it to.

For your notice.

From what I see, it looks like Rigby was moving things at the same time as you were attacking. This sort of shows a failing with the current report system: you don't really get a sense of what surrounding hexes looked like at the time of the attack, so it's easy to get confused if there was flanking involved.

I'm pondering some ideas on how to clear that up. Perhaps a hexmap "snapshot" of the six hexes surrounding the defender, though I'm not sure how best to store that in the database efficiently.

I was knocked back alright. My Ghost faced warrior was pushed back into Rabidmonkey's troops. I logged in and sure enough i was sitting there with 2 Kappas and an Ogre. I wasn't moving troops around at the moment either... I just moved the warrior back to its original hex when it happened.

I guess I misunderstood what you were saying originally.

So there was a point where you had two or more units in the same hex that were NOT owned by the same person?

And this was achieved by attacking someone when someone else's unit was in the flanking position?

That seems correct.

I believe this is fixed now. I tried to test it in various scenarios and seems to work correctly, but there's almost certainly some combination I never considered.

Expected behaviour for this is simply: if the defender is knocked back into units that do not share the defender's owner, the defender will be destroyed.

So in the original scenario as posted by Naelwyn, Rigby's unit would have died by being pushed into Rabidmonkey's units.
